POSITIVE is the young-adult non-sectarian ministry of Temple El Shammah, which is dedicated to inspiring ALL young-adults, with an emphasis on "at-risk" and economically disadvantaged youths. Our endeavor is to teach them how to discover, connect and pursue within leadership roles and entrepreneurial exploits.
We are a non-denominational outreach forming chapters across the United States that addresses gang related violence, drug and alcohol abuse, unplanned teen pregnancy, STD/I transmission in youth and young-adults, incarceration and recidivism, entrepreneurship and empowerment training, and development of mentoring relationships.
We partner with dedicated men and women in the community who volunteer their time, talent, and resources to this movement. A movement to empower young-adults ages 13 – 35 to discover their gifts and abilities. Giving them the opportunity to apply those gifts in life to maximize their G-d given potential for positive social, economic, psychological, spiritual, and cultural growth is our goal.
We offer a variety of programs to challenge people’s minds and to give "at-risk" individuals the hope to dream and the courage to go after those dreams. So many of our youth and young-adults (and even some adults) simply need the opportunity to be able to rise again from the ashes: Some of our youth in the community don't know what it's like to be "re-birthed" from the ashes of poverty, homelessness, joblessness, mental instability, health related illnesses, illiteracy, friendlessness and finally lovelessness.
Phoenix Outreach Services tackles the issues contemporary with our everyday life and we seek to be a help to people, giving them opportunity and expanded ideas of service. We are committed to advancing the lives of at-risk and disadvantaged youth and families through an array of innovative programs of excellence in the areas of Education, Health and Human Services, and Community Development.

We believe that the children are not only our future but also our present and if we refuse to invest in our children now, we are honestly hindering our future and refusing to invest in our survival as the human race. We seek to inspire youth and young-adults to be inspired in life, giving them a sense of hope, pride and accomplishment.
Every individual was created for a purpose that is unique to their character. Standing upon that, we hold that all individuals have the necessary tools to accomplish their purpose, however, those tools must be discovered and cultivated before they can be used properly. We believe we are here to help young-adults discover and cultivate their gifts to establish their purpose in their individual lives.

P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E. is committed to empowering, educating, motivating, challenging, and encouraging today’s young-adults to effect positive change in their respective communities. It is our mission to see disadvantaged young-adults securing the same opportunities afforded to other people groups: not becoming hindered by perceived mental constraints and false limitations.
OUR VISION:
Our vision is to see young-adults empowered from the inside-out, celebrating their differences. Young-adults learning to harness understanding, wisdom, and knowledge that they gained to take them into future aspirations will make these same individuals better equipped to make sound decisions to accomplish all that they purpose to do.
OUR INSPIRATION:
The Phoenix is our inspiration. As the Phoenix lives a quiet life of solitude and service, at the end of its long journey this magical creature bursts into flames to simply be reborn to create new opportunities for itself. We teach within our programs that they should seek to live a life of service and then experience a rebirth into their newness of life. |
